Oops!Backup
« on: January 08, 2010, 12:25:58 PM »
I get a lot of these type's of requests, most are scam / bait e-mails however this one seems somewhat legit. I don't have the time to review products but figured I could at least see if people in the Computer Hope community are interested and if so apply. So if you're interested speak up and I'll apply otherwise this can just be ignored.

I work for a software company (Altaro Software - www.altaro.com) and we just
launched our backup and versioning product for PCs called Oops!Backup.  We
only launched on 1 Dec 2009 and we received very positive feedback due to
the innovation and uniqueness in it  :)   Some product screenshots at
http://www.altaro.com/screenshots.php

...

Anyway - we are interested in giving 50 free licenses of our software to the
ComputerHope community!

Looks to be an evaluation copy...but i'm more than willing to give it a test and write a review.

    Hi,

It's definitely legit :) It was me that sent that email and definitely not a scam.

We are a very new company and we decided to start what we call the Altaro Community Outreach program (more info here - http://www.altaro.com/News_Altaro_Community_Outreach_Program_Launched.php).

To be honest I prefer not just giving out the free licenses at random.  I would prefer if they are given out to the people that help most on these forums - could be the mods, or maybe people that help others most etc ... it's not up to me to decide who to give them to however :)  I just need someone from ComputerHope to decide to who it will give them.

patio - just drop me an email so I will send you the free key! :)

Anyway - let me know :)

I'm downloading this now to check it out.

Altaro, I was going to suggest that you remove your email address from the post.  Then I noticed that it is posted on your site.  I guess I still need more coffee.

<edit> By the way, nice site, you don't get lost in all those ad's like with some new companies. </edit>

I'm happy that I found a fellow Maltese on this site, who is developing (well, the company is) a seemingly good piece of software. :)

What does the race have to do with it?

Ahh, but see, if it was a Bald Eagle.... that would be impressive.
