Intermittent or random errors, usually point to a slowly dying power supply.

intermittent or random errors with a database/forum/hosting point to a PSU problem?

1.) most hosts have redundant power supplies.

2.) most power supply issues would effect more then just how quickly the apache server services web requests; you know, things like corrupting the memory of the apache process and therefore causing a complete crash.

3.) either way, it's the hosts problem if it turns out to be a PSU issue. Well, unless Nathan sent to server to the hosting company or something along those lines...

Anyway, hardware diagnoses don't usually extend to software very well.

I'm sorry. I was under the mistaken impression that Nathan was using his server to host the site himself. I don't know much about this stuff. :-[ I've never had my own website before.

yeah, well, in that case, maybe, but usually that would result in more far-reaching symptoms then a few database issues. Not that it's impossible, though.

Don't believe it's a PSU issue, server is running redundant power supplies but thanks for the suggestion. Right now still under investigation. Does appear to be httpd failing that's causing the issue and right now under the impression that it could be due to the fact that it's getting too much traffic and causing it to restart itself. Continuing to monitor.

Host has come to the conclusion that the KeepAliveTimeout for Apache may be set too high for the amount of incoming traffic Computer Hope gets so we've changed the value from 15 to 2 seconds. Let me know if you run into any issues.

So far this morning the forum was completely unresponsive for me on two occasions - each lasting about two minutes.

Hmm that's unfortunate. Will continue to work on the stability.

Kinda wierd that all these slowdowns are happening around the same time. Then again, not wierd at all.

Is that a required post in this thread?
Also, forum was slow this morning, but pretty good now.

Mine was about the same time, it slowed down at around 12 EST and totally froze up by 12:05 EST [my iTouch says there is a "Server error" or something along those lines].
