Internet crashes during upload.

For the past couple of days whenever I try to upload a file via my web browser it will cause my internet to completely crash, and it takes a few minutes for me to get it back. It is not the browser as I tried it in firefox, IE, and Opera. Strangely though I am able to file transfer large files over MSN without a problem, and I'm having no problems with downloading.

I have a theory as to how this happened, though I'm not really sure. Recently I attempted to forward a port to increase my upload speed on utorrent using the instructions linked to below, as my upload speed with utorrent is dreadfully slow. (0.5 kb/s slow) It started not long after I did it, so it seems like a logical assumption to me. I've reversed everything done since though and yet the problem persists.

I am running windows XP SP2 and my antivirus is AVG. If any further information is needed just ask.

What do you mean your Internet is crashing?  Are browsers crashing or are you being disconnected from the internet?

Use system restore to go back to before you messed with the ports.

Restart the computer and tap F8 until you get to Advanced Boot Options..  Select Safe Mode With Networking

Next, take your browsers for a spin on the Internet to see if you can maintain connectivity...    Try uploading your files..

Works fine in safe mode.

Just Opera, Medieval CUE splitter and a FLAC converter. Not anything I think would cause this problem.

Well, if it works in safe mode it's likely software related one way or the other. I'd suggest a clean boot to normal mode (either open msconfig and choose "selective startup", disabling everything from starting and then reboot OR reboot and as soon as the blue WINDOWS screen appears depress and hold down the LEFT CTRL key. Keep it depressed until the OS finishes loading (at least 60 seconds)). Then let's see what happens.

Not sure I just went through and disabled a bunch of things. Not like I really need most of them anyway.

Well now wait a minute, we need to sort this out. If you did this through msconfig we need to figure out which process was causing the problem so you can restore normal startup.
