I hope its ok to go ahead and post this EARNEST plea for help!!
Running XP Media Center edition, and am suddenly having problems.
Getting error messages when I click on any of my Programs - assorted ones like for example, Failed to create empty document, The application or DLL is not a valid windows image, please check against installation diskette, The application failed to initialise properly.
Bizarrley, I came here googling for help all this and am online now on the pc using Mozilla.
Thunderbird and MSN all give error messages.
I CAN open CC Cleaner, but thats about the only thing that will work.
Most of my shortcuts to my software on my desktop are not showing images.
I CANNOT use the system restore feature in ordinary mode OR safe mode or even safe mode using the systemroot rstrui command.
I can confirm that I made sure that the system restore boxes were checked, thats not the problem.
Cant even restore through CC Cleaner, its not showing any points.
When the problem started my anti virus had expired, and I also uninstalled HP digital imaging software,(trying to fix a wireless printer installation problem)
Does anyone have any suggestions, before I have to cough up the anormous fee PC world charge - I do want to save all my software if possible.
I dont have any installation disks for the pc.
I tried hooking up my Vista laptop via ethernet cable to try and scan the C drive for virues, but it just made the laptp crash..
Oh dear......And im not even blonde!
