old usb 1.1 riser card or cable
    « on: March 02, 2017, 04:53:22 PM »
    Hello,
I have an old "iwill" brand computer from 1998, 133MHZ Pentium mainboard is P55 TVS, under Windows 3.1 and I would like to add some usb ports (v. 1.1 – 12 MB/sec) but my mainboard is missing what is called in the user's manual: the 20 pin universal serial bus riser card. So, I'm looking to find such riser card or cable
only with usb 1.1 and have been unable to find it !
It is easy to find riser cards or cables but with usb 3.0 and of course it won't work.
so what I need is : this riser card which is a 20 pin (2 x 10) card plugged into the mainboard and it provides
2 usb ports (old version usb 1.1 )
if anyone can help ? thanks a lot  :)

ps: attached is a picture of such riser card !

The one you pictured is for USB 3.0 only. Single 20 pin connector
This is the one you want for USB 2.0 & 1.1; 10-pin connector with 1 pin missing, so the plug only goes in one way.
    2 ports per connector.

thanks ! yes the pictured is for USB 3.0 but still I have a Single 20 pin connector on my
mainboard of this computer from 1998 ! I don't have a 10 pin connector with one missing !
since the mainboard is from 1998, it can only be usb 1.1 but I have no idea of the wiring !
been unable to find informations on this usb 1.1 20 pin connector !  the mainboard is
P55 TVS from "IWILL" and my system under Windows 3.1.

The usb 1.1 20-pin motherboard connector is non-standard.  Without a motherboard data sheet, you're out of luck.  It would be easier to add a USB 2.0 card, if you have an empty PCI slot.
