We never did hear about  the computer. It is starting to sound like an old Deskpro EN with an onboard ATI Rage Pro onboard 4 meg AGP, but we need to get the model   # confirmed!

The ATI video is definitely built in. Some models disable that when another graphics adapter is plugged in, others require the onboard video to be disable in the BIOS or with a jumper on the board.

Sounds like an HP pavillion computer. There is an option in the bios to disable on board video, and if I remember corectly, there is also a jumper on the mobo  that you need to change (on page 14 of the manual I think) and this will allow you to use an agp video card.

Here is a link to find the manual:

At this point read the manual. I gave you the link and the probable page. I can't read it for you.  ::)

You want to "disable the onboard video". Let us know what you learn.

look at the diagram and locate the three pins for VGAEN. note what two pins are covered and remove the plastic jumper and cover the middle pin and the one at the other end. There is a picture so yuou can see right where it is!

It is right above where he flat grey IDE cables connect to the motherboard from the hard drive and CDROM drives.  THe round CMOS battery is on the other side of the IDE controller ports.

I can't reach it for you, but there it is!!!!!
