How do I get my CD and DVD drives to work?
    « on: May 21, 2008, 09:00:39 AM »
How can I get D and E drives (my CD and DVD)  to work? When I changed from aol internet to embarq, something deleted both D and E drives, I followed the directions listed on your website to reinstall them.  I can now see them but they will not play or copy.

please let us know what you have for an OS so we can assist further. Can you read data cd and dvds but not play music or movies? Or is it not working for any types of media?

      Try one of these:
      1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
      or...
      2. http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
      or...
      3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
      You'll see two items:
      - ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
      - ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
