    Wireless not working
    « on: July 06, 2008, 11:54:15 PM »
This is the problem my wireless single from my home router is not working. It says that It had all bars and is the connection is excellent but when I open IE or FireFox It doesnt show the page its those pages you get when you have no internet connection. Now i tired hooking up to another single and it worked fine but it was really slow scene its father away. Last night though the router was acting funny it kept restarting by its self. When the computer was off.

Anybody have an idea what it could be?
Yes that is me in the avatar.

Unplug wireless router for ≈10 minutes, then plug back in.

Can you access the internet outside the browsers? Do this: Start>Run>type in cmd>a command prompt will appear>type in: ping www.computerhope.com>a response giving 'round trip time' and 'packets sent/received' ought to appear after a couple seconds. What response did you get?
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

i am not a computer tech or anything, but i can tell you what i did when i had a similar problem, it may help i don't think it can hurt, i had one laptop that was doing the same thing and my ISP came to the house and could not help, they said my wireless on my computer was bad,  so i called up my extended service guy told me this
if it is a linksys router go to there website and support page;  then click to go to - Technical Support- page, then on left column click  -EasyLink Home Networking Tools ; then click - EasyLink Firmware  - and download the update for the router. it fixed the problem for me. there is also a link below that one that may help if you have a different router.

        good luck.
