Wow that is really fascinating and something that could prove to be really helpful. I know I'd much rather create a 3D model using this technique then trying to do it in 3ds Max. ;)

Just think of the possible applications this would have.
Not only for models and enthusiasts, but for insurance purposes and inventory.

On the downside anybody receiving video data from a webcam could model you.
