I received my E8500 yesterday and got it installed tonight after work. It's running great, a nice improvement over the Celeron 2.2 GHz. The only problem I had is the new cpu came with a push pin heatsink/fan and the dell is screw mounted. I just used the stock Dell heatsink and fan. I've ran several test and it is cooling fine. When I do my next uprade of a Video Card (and power supply) I'll add a case fan or two.

I'll have to look at the board, but i'm guessing i'll have the same problem with the heatsink.

Your cooler appears to be the same as mine. Since this one came stock with a E6600 the stock cooler shouldn't be a problem.

I wish the one I was upgrading came with the E6600. I'm assuming that guy had Dell build that one for him. An E6600 and an ATI GPU are not the stock components.

I agree, but the cooler appears to be the same. I found it interesting that it only had a 250W power supply with all that.

Hmm. That's a good point. That almost makes me want to just buy the CPU and GPU and see what happens, but I know that guy had to find out eventually that the 250W wasn't going to be sufficient, so I don't think i'll chance it.

The cooler appears to be the same as the one I currently have, or the one i'm planning to get? Sorry, i'm a little tired.  :-\

The cooler is just like the stock cooler in mine so I'm guessing yours is probably the same.

Yeah i'd bet it is too. I'm glad you showed me that page. Now I can make sure the case I chose is micro ATX compatible. I'm waiting a few days to buy all this stuff, and now i'm glad I did.
