Email notifications come in bunches

It happens only on this board, since yesterday.
I know, there are some new posts in threads I replied to, but email notifications don't come for longer time, and then, all of sudden, I'm getting a whole bunch of them. After that, it's quiet again for a while.
Anyone with same problem?

I have experienced that here once and also a few times on other forums. Have also seen in depth discussions from others experiencing it. General consensus is that it is a glitch in your email service and not the forum itself.

It's frustrating I know.

I may be telling you something you already know...

The frequency of how often you receive e-mail from a forum depends on the settings the Adminstrator sets when sending them out.

The Administrator may wait until the e-mail queue reaches a certain amount before the e-mail is actually sent.  It depends on the size of the forum., I guess.

Smaller forums may send an e-mail out to you right away...as opposed to larger forums...where they may wait until the e-mail queue reaches about 10, 20, 50, 100 (you get the idea) before they are actually sent.

This will probably have to wait on a response from the Administrator of this forum, though...

I think, evil is right, because in the past email notifications were coming in a matter of maybe 1 minute.
Here, for instance, you posted at 6:17. It's 6:23, and I still didn't get any mail about your reply.

Things seem to be back to normal. I reset my modem last night, so I won't know, if it was ISP, or my modem.

As far as I'm able to tell there is not a setting that allows the admin to adjust how frequently the e-mail notifications are sent. So I'm assuming it's immediately distributed. However, as mentioned above it's likely due to either the Computer Hope mail server getting overloaded or being slow, other mail servers, and/or your mail server that is causing them to come in bunches.

At least you're getting them.  I remember with YaBB (last forum software) how often I got complaints about not getting them at all.
