Forum just *Disappeared*
« on: September 11, 2008, 03:51:39 AM »
Hi all,

I'm sorry I'm not really sure where to put this question so it may need shifting.  :-[

A forum that I visit regulary, last night while I was posting just vanished. When I tried to connect back to it it said 'Forbidden Error 403'. I tired several times, and also today to get to the forum same message. I tried to get on just a few minutes ago and now it says 'Error 404 Not found'. I have tried it on different computers and browsers, and have asked other members to attempt to access it, and they say they also can't get on. I did some research and it said that the 403 error was something to do with the url, but I checked  and double checked the address was right.

Does anyone know what has happened? Has it been hacked? Why would a forum thats been up for years just suddenly go down withoput warning?

As mentioned above it's likely a server related issue. I'd imagine that they're just updating or changing something that's causing you to not have access to it.

Is there a possiblity that it was hacked? Other sites on the same server have gone down with the same message. I can't contact the administator so I have no idea if he knows. He does not go there often.

What forum are you referring to?  What's the URL?

    Hi all

I've finally managed to contact the owner of the site. Apparently a hacker used the site to send spam so the host server took it down. Hopefully this will be resolved.

    Thanks for your input.

Sorry to hear about that, but I'm glad you know what's going on now.
