Connect to VPN, But not Remote Desktop
« on: March 14, 2009, 01:59:46 PM »
Attempting to run remote desktop over VPN network.  Seems I can attach to VPN fine, however when running remote desktop, can not connect.
Is there simple setting I'm overlooking?

Receive the following message.

Remote Desktop Disconnected
‘ This computer can’t connect to the remote computer.
Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator.’

The host PC is running Windows XP Professional with remote desktop setup. I’m told that problem is on my end by my network administrator.
(Note: My home network where my client resides is running thru a Linksys WRT54G router)

Below are my current settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try disabling the firewalls on each of the computers.

check your Linksys WRT54G router manual. I think u will find somewhere  info on how to set up for VPN connections. I believe some routers have to manually adjust some setting.
