CD-Drive Slave on IDE cable.
« on: December 14, 2009, 02:30:08 PM »
This is for newbies that don't understand the term
"CD-Drive Slave on IDE cable."
The picture below shows an older CD-Rom Drive that is the Master on a standard flat ribbon IDE cable. That green thing near the cable is a jumper used to selcte how the computer will find the drive. It is now set on Master. The next two golds pins are for Slave. The left pins are for Cable Select. But that will not work because that is a standard IDE cable. Newer cables are marked as being the kind you can use for the cable select feature.

Don't use Cable Select. It didn't work on my Intel 850 Test PC. Use Jumpers for Master and Slave instead.
