Cheapy Product from ebay..
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:04:08 AM »
It started with this I've asked my friend if i can use he's eBay account because i don't have a credit card yet... hehe guess I'm too young.. (18) so i ordered the Blue 180mm fans from eBay for like 3 bucks each... 1st problem it took 3 months for me to get my Fans and then i connected them to my computer one 1st one fan perfect, ND fan OMG half blue half purple (OK no so noticeable), 3rd one only 3 lights work... FML i was kinda mad so i went on eBay with my friend account and gave the sellers a bad report for selling low quality merchandise... then they reply by not even apologizing or offering a replacement or anything, instead they b*tch about it not being they're fault and just argue about me that the shipping want they're fault, most likely with them knowing that they sell faulty merchandise... so my fried gets mad at me too for him not being able to but a phone of the same company because they don't like him now because of the Bad report i added on they're eBay account... My comeback to my friend is at least you know that when you buy your phone from a different seller its not gonna be a phone with a Blue/Purple phone with missing key lights... lol he laugh too and said it was ok...

I would have to say you got what you paid for. Newegg sales a 180mm blue fan for $24.00 each. So before buying something off of ebay do a little research and see what the part would cost on another site. Then stop and think about that really cheap price and ask yourself if it would be worth taking the chance.

I would have had a similar problem surely when I  went to buy my Super Nintendo for Nostalgia's sake :P

Do a search for "SNES console" for example-

down the page you find the actual console- all by itself, just the console (NTSC) and two controllers, for 60 dollars (the buy it now price).

however, the first hit is to this

it's half the price, and claims to play both SNES and NES game cartridges. This by itself could woo any unsuspecting buyer. By a stroke of pure luck I had already heard about how horrible these things were- their sound was wrong, they often "forgot" to rewrite the cartridge SRAM (essentially erasing saved Data) and weren't even able to emulate all games. Personally, I went with a Console + 2 controllers + 12 games (I think it was 12, damned if I remember) for I think 160$ total. Ironically, this is more then it cost to buy a SNES when they first game out, iirc. heh.

needless to say, when you do a search for practically anything the cheapest items will always be completely knockoffs, not work properly, and needless to say be completely unsupported by the manufacturer.

yeah i know but hey you gotta admit they were pretty cheap though and they do the cooling part just fine... all i gotta do is replace the cheapy lights with a little soldering.

EBay is great for a lot of things, but I don't think computer parts are one of them.

I'll stick with vendors like Newegg, Amazon, etc. for computer parts.  I know they are going to still be around two weeks after I buy something.
