How do I get antivirus program to go away?

I uninstalled F-Secure, have never liked it anyway, and downloaded the new Norton as it was free from Comcast.  However, when I start my computer, the F-Secure icon keeps showing up, it's down on the taskbar at the bottom, I've checked on programs and it's not there (Windows Vista) so I am assuming it is uninstalled, but this evening when I started the computer, Windows kept telling me it had a problem opening F-Secure, and kept telling me, over and over.  How do I total banish this from my lovely little computer?

If the normal add-remove programs didn't work then I recommend:
F-Secure removal tool and a second alternative if the first fails, Revo Uninstaller.  Revo Uninstaller is a fully functional trial version so you probably want to uninstall it after using it.  Just be sure to be careful when using it since many other undesirable changes can be made with it.

I went to Revo and F-Secure Removal Tool and I see nothing that says remove it.  I googled it and found other methods to uninstall it, but it is for older versions.  Mine is 2010 and I found nothing for uninstalling it.  Any other suggestions, or am I looking at the right thing?

Download and run Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml). Uncheck anything related to F-Secure and reboot.

Allan - I already had Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel on my computer, I think.  When I tried to download it, up it came in some file on my computer.  When I clicked on it, it said file can not be found in that location.  It also said it was installed in 2003, I just got this computer a year and 4 months ago, so how can that be?  I tried to delete it to install again, won't do it, come up with the same thing.  I do know that when my old computer crashed, he was able to save some stuff from it, maybe that was it, but I can't get rid of it nor can I download the new one.

Wait - I did get to Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel and I unchecked F-Secure.  However, there are 2 F-Secure's there and when I went to uncheck the 2nd one, up popped a window that said:  There is already an enabled/disabled item with the same name.  Please rename either the enabled or disabled item.  Then I tried to delete one of them by right-clicking and hit delete.  It deleted it, then when I went to uncheck the other F-Secure box, the one I deleted pops back up in the list, unchecked.  This is all too weird for me.

Go to your Microsoft (annoying) Action Center > Action Center Settings > Security Messages

Untick what you don't want it to b*tch about, for example the Anti-virus, maybe Window Updates (if you have it set to manual), etc.

Take control of your computer, slap Microsoft in the hand and just ensure the virus scanner is actually working to your liking and you do updates regularly, etc. Note: whatever you've untick, you will have to make sure is working and up-to-date.

Go to the following two registry locations and delete any entries related to f-secure:

HKCU - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Current Version - Run

HKLM - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Current Version - Run

To get to the registry, don't I need to type regedit and run?  I did that, saw no f-secure nor did I see anything like HKCU....  or HKLM....

I'm frustrated but I know I'm frustrating you all too!  Sorry!
