    What is a PCI card?
    « on: April 18, 2010, 08:40:43 PM »
I have this really old desktop computer that I have been fooling around with that has an issue I can't seem to fix. Looking in device manager it says I need drivers for my PCI. Looking at the motherboard it has P55-BT printed on it and the manual I have indicates the motherboard as P55-BT. Based on the info in the manual the chipset features setup shows what is configured and the only thing I find that isn't correct is the line **Fast EDO Lead Off**. This should be **ENABLED** but it is **DISABLED**.

I did some surfing and found that I may need to re-install the chipset drivers for the motherboard. I can't seem to find the drivers anywhere. Anybody have any ideas that can help me fix this?

    Thanks

you cannot have Fast EDO lead enabled if your memory doesn't support it- that's probably why it's set to disabled.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

It was enable before I tried to change the card the monitor cord is attached to. Does this mean I cannot install the drivers I need to correct the PCI issue I am having?

Fast EDO is a memory setting. it has nothing to do with either PCI or video cards.

It appears that I cannot enable/disable it like other settings in BIOS. How can I correct this, or can I?

Either way I still need to find the drivers for 82430TX PCIset P55-BT ISA PCI MainBoard and find out how to install them. Any help there?

            Is this your motherboard?

Yes it is. I thought I found what I needed to correct the issue but it didn't work.

Found the issue and it wasn't the motherboard chipset. The PCI device was the modem card that I needed to load the drivers for.

              Lesson learned.
