If it was the power supply, you'd be seeing nothing.
When the computer starts up, look for "Esc"
Delete" or an f value of f2 or f10. You must hit that button to get to the BIOS setup.
If it was the processor it would be due to overclocking or the thermal paste being worn out.

If it was the motherboard, it wouldn't even turn on.

Go and see if you can access the BIOS.

            Try using a livecd.
If it boots to the login screen or desktop- through the livecd- then the hard drive is to blame.
if not, you have some other issues at hand.

Did you change the boot order in BIOS?
CD drive should be first if your are installing an OS.

Return the drive for a replacement...

                  From MSDN:

                  Quote
                  0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
A system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch. There are numerous individual causes for this problem, including hardware incompatibility, a faulty device driver or system service, or some software issues. Check Event Viewer (EventVwr.msc) for additional information.

You may have been a bit hasty replacing the MBoard...
What OS is on the drive and are the install CD's genuine ? ?
