I am running win xp and ubuntu 9.10 and having a problem with the display. I keep getting little 1/2 inch holes where the pointer is/was. Also my terminal does not echo what I type. It just stays blank, but will respond if you type blind. I know it works to get back to the gui. The problem was solved once but I can't remember where or how. I know in xp it is slowing down hardware acceleration. In ububtu it has something to do with display effects.
I plan to migrate to ubuntu 10.xx as soon as I can get this problem with the display fixed again.
