ComputerHope forum Profile question
« on: September 28, 2010, 11:50:19 AM »
I'm getting this message when I try to enter computer specs in my Profile:

" The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:

    * The following BBC is not allowed within your signature: abbr, acronym, anchor, bdo, black, blue, center, color, email, flash, font, ftp, glow, green, html, hr, img, iurl, left, li, list, ltr, me, move, nobbc, php, pre, red, right, rtl, s, shadow, size, sub, sup, table, td, time, tr, tt, url, white."

It doesn't make sense.  img and url are not allowed? No more images in the signature area?  I was using img before the recent forum upgrading and it's still there (in my Profile).  But now, when I try to save a change, I get the above error message.

Same here.  A lot of the items in the Profile are missing, too.  Only items carried over are Signature & Avatar.

I posted this at the end of the Forum updated to SMF 2.0 thread, because clearly it's related to that.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Thanks.  I'm not able to save any changes to my Profile.
BTW, what happened to marking thread as solved?
It's no longer available, i.e. http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,110461.15.html

This was my bad last night while fixing the signature section. I've fixed it, img and url tags are allowed. I obviously should of went to bad after the first 12hours of straight work. ;)

Same here.  A lot of the items in the Profile are missing, too.  Only items carried over are Signature & Avatar.

When Computer Hope moved to 2.0 I elected to drop the old custom profile settings in favor of the new integrated SMF custom profile features. So we wouldn't have to worry about having a third-party mod support in the future. This is covered on the SMF 2.0 Update thread.

I see it fine, at the bottom of the thread. Unless maybe it's a permission thing?? Anyone else not see Topic solved?

I still see the "mark solved" button. Would CC need to perform a "hard" refresh (control+F5) because of changes to the CSS?

I see it on this thread (meaning the one I'm typing this in), but not that thread (below).

I don't see it in that thread either. I don't see the button anywhere in the networking forum.

Now I'm seeing them on some threads but not others. For instance, this thread which I marked solved because I felt a reasonable solution was given, but now that button has disappeared:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,110587.0.html

I can see it on the SMF 2.0 thread, in the Other board, but not any other threads I checked there. I can't even see it on topics I started now.

-=EDIT=-
Funny, I couldn't see it on this thread before, but I can see it now.

-=EDIT=-
It just appeared on a thread I started, but it wasn't there a few minutes ago.

Ok, third time is hopefully the charm. ;) After doing the last fix to make it solved / unsolved button ran into some issues with 1,000+ post users not seeing this. This is something that was not available in the mod so did some customization and you should now see it either if you're 1,000+ post user or the topic starter.

As far as it not showing up in boards it should be in all applicable boards. I went through each of the boards and had to add a check mark for those boards I think should support this. Obviously sections like the games and off topic shouldn't show solved. However, most of the boards should. I'll go through each of the boards again after this change and make sure I see it. But if you happen to stumble across a board that doesn't show this, let me know.

Does the same thing for me.  I was going to mark it solved & then change it back to unsolved.  It does work for this thread (the one I'm typing this in).

Yeah, it could be moved. However, figured it'd be best left at the bottom since that's likely where you'd be when realizing it's solved.

Any idea why we're getting errors with the button now?

No, I've been told of errors, but can't duplicate. Does the error have any details?

Whew this took me a while to track down and fix. Thought for sure I broke something so had to go manually through all the files and check each line. After doing this I couldn't see anything different. After several different attempts realized it was broke because I setup a no poll permission on many of the boards, which apparently overwrote the individual permissions.

I've tested things on my alt account and they appear to be working. Didn't do extensive testing since I'm getting tired. But definitely appears better than it was.

Let me know if you continue to experience problems and if you do what board / post you're encountering it in.

This was a board I missed, it wasn't selected as a solved board. I've checked the box and tested that topic in the Hardware board on my alt account and appears to be working now.
