Maybe you could try to delete some old restore points. Go to start and search for "restore", then click on System Restore and delete some old restore points. Also defrag your hard drive- go to start, and search for defragmenter , click on Disk Defragmenter and then analyze. If it tells you that you should defrag, choose C: drive and press the defragment button. Then get ready to wait. Thats all i can think of from the top of my head. Hope i helped.

You have move your user files from c to drive d with the same HD. What's your HD capacity? And partition?

Nothing in the post indicates the system has a single drive.

Is it physically one drive with two partitions or are the two physical drives in the computer?

in the computer manger it says :

Disk 0 with 3 partitions --> unnamed partition with EISA configuration, d (primary)and c (system)
Disk 1 which is not allocated and has only 514 MB

anyway, that means c and d are in the same disk drive does that differ?

Yes, your C & D are both logical drives and they both exist in the same physical drive.

Essentially you need to have minimum of 200MB threshold in your operating system drive in order for windows to function properly.

The most obvious way to free up your C:\ drive and increase the capacity is to remove unnecessary programs from your PC using the Add/Remove programs option, or reduces the number of Restore Points from your system or run the Disk Clean Up option.

I have a similar problem when I took over the computer at my work place and I was left with 100MB in my logical C:\ drive and 40Gb in my logical D:\ drive. After cleaning up the pc, I was left with 300MB. In the end, I decided to use partition magic and resize C:\ over the D:\, since they both exist on the same physical drive.

It's been two years and I have no problem since.

          Hope this may help

          1) Go to System Restore and disable it. NOTE - all restore points will be deleted immediately (but if you start to use a disc imaging utility on a regular basis you don't need system restore). This will free up a huge block of space.

          2) Limit the space utilized by the Temporary Internet Files Folder

          3) Delete all files in your Temp folder

          4) Empty the recycle bin

Best option: Get a larger hard drive.

As suggested in the post above mine, you can use Disk Cleanup to delete all but the most recent restore point. But as I mentioned, if you start using either a disc imaging utility OR ERUNT (a registry backup utility) on a regular basis you won't need System Restore.

Given the options... yes you can delete certain restore points. System restore works only limited cases. But some virus or malware attacks will not. So as suggested previously, you must go with a larger hard drive. One is to save your user files and use more space to work on. Or if your computer is a desktop, you can slave your current HD and have it dual boot with the new one. Another option is to have a portable HD if ever you don't want your previous settings change by just backing up your loaded files to it.

i am already using a portable hard drive my laptop doesnt has any of my personal files and documents only the system and programs files..

i know the system restore and also the hibernation files take up so much space but i dont think deleting them is in my advantage..i use these features very frequently
