Laptop with mobile broadband and wifi
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:55:36 PM »
Hi,

I have had an IBM T42 used laptop for a year and always connected to my home wireless Belkin G router without problem, as well as wifi hotspots. I am running XP.

Recently, I purchased a Virgin Mobile USB modem for broadband. It installed and worked fine but when I uninstalled it and tried to go back to my own wireless network, I could not connect. The screen kept saying acquiring network address but was not able.

I just tried plugging into the router with a cable and it worked, but suddenly the wireless connected too. Now it is on the internet without a cable. Can anyone guess what happened?

Oh btw, I have one yellow question mark in my device manager for an intel LPC controller. Is this related?

The yellow ? means something is wrong. U r probably missing a driver or miss configured something. Try taking a  snap shot of Device Manger and post it on a reply.
