    « on: February 20, 2011, 02:33:12 PM »
Hi. I have this old desktop that has a18 gb hard drive and is running windows xp. I am running out of diskspace and i have this  hard drive at home : A 40.0GB Quantum Fireball Plus AS. I connected it up, set the jumper to slave and restarted the computer. The system bios is recognizing the drive but i am getting an error message:BOOTMGR IS MISSING. Press Ctrl. Alt. Del. to restart ???Can anyone help with this matter please? Thanks a lot.

Why not just used the 40 Gb hard drive and do a clean install instead of retaining the OS on an 18 Gb space?

Or you could DLoad and use the Free Quantum disk diagnostics....use it to make a bootable CD.
Then boot to the CD...use the "clone" feature to clone the 18 to the Quantum...
When finished power down. Remove the 18G and hook up the Quantum as master...
Power up...it should boot with all your data and apps intact.

After which you can hook up the 18 as a slave drive...format it and   use it fore additional storage.

Total elapsed time: approx 40 minutes.

It looks like you are not using a clean install but on repair options and pressing (F2) ASR options while loading. What HD are you using and do you have the original Os CDs for your computer?

Upon removing the 18 Gb HD(cable.power connector) from the CPU tower and replacing it with the Quantum HD, Power on PC and go to BIOS setup and check first if it is recognized as primary then change boot order to CD/DVD first while your OS CD inserted in the drive. Save and Exit. Make sure you have your Chipset driver ready after formatting the HD.

Well depending on how that copy of Windows was made you may be out of luck...
