XP Pro 64 bit
« on: April 14, 2011, 05:26:59 PM »
Howdy,
I have a 64 bit XP workstation that will not login to the update site. I few days ago it was what seemed to be locked up when doing the updates. I was forced to hard boot the machine. Now it won't even open the web page or allow me to open the auto updates in the control pannel.

Things seem to be jam'd up with the updates.

I can get email and other web pages just fine. Also I am running the full paid version AVG suite. Did a full scan and its clean.

Thanks

Hi All,
I fixed it.

The update cache was corrupted. I stopped the update service and set it to disable. Next a reboot and then renamed the software distribution folder in the windows directory. Change the update service back to auto and did another reboot. Windows re-created the software distribution folder. I was able to do my updates. Thanks

Thanks
