Getting VxD Dynamic link Call: VDHCP

I'm getting a VxD dynamic link call : VDHCP(03) + 00001BE4 to "0489", service 7.  I think it might be the AVG Free Edition Driver.  I can't get the computer to stay up long enough to actually delete the program, or do anything else.  I reloaded Win ME on top of itself, but it didn't help at all.  I'm stuck.  Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated!

1. Can you enter safe mode?
2. Have you recently added new hardware or installed new drivers?
3. Why do you suspect AVG Free?

It will enter safe mode, but it still kicks out to the blue screen.  I haven't installed anything new, but I have disconnected the computer's internet connection.  That's why I suspect AVG.  When the program attempts to update automatically, it kicks out to the blue screen.

What if you remove the program via the DOS prompt?

You may be able to access a DOS prompt by pressing F8 before Windows ME loads. If not, type cmd or command in the RUN box, if you are able to.

It can't be AVG, it doesn't start in safe mode.

Thanks for the info.  I couldn't get the DOS to work, so I CTRL-ALT-DELETE'd during start-up and stopped the AVG programs from running before they really had a chance to load.  With some timing, I got the computer to come up and uninstalled AVG.  All is working again.

Do not forget to reinstall AVG Free. You do require a virus scanner.
