Small grey fonts are hard on Elderly Users
« on: December 13, 2013, 09:43:21 PM »
This is nugatory gripe. My hope is some web site designers take note.
Many of us elderly folk have limited eyesight. One of the reasons we like Personal Computers is the ability to enlarge the font size or use a huge display.

But some modern web page designs do now allow free flow text. Trying to enlarge the text makes it run off the side of the screen. So she older visitor has to scroll back and forth to read.

Then there is the grey  font. It looks like this.  The contrast is so low it is very hard to read. Worst yet, there is the white font on a black background. More than  60 seconds of that gives me a headache. What ever happened to just black on white?

Last, but not least, there is the pop-up that covers all  the page. Now I can not use the 2400 by 1600  resolution some youngsters can use. I struggle with just the old 1024 by 768, which used to be a standard. So the pop-up so so huge, I can not  find the close button.

So here. That's my gripe. BTW: Some young people also have vision issues.
