Error Message
« on: August 12, 2015, 08:37:16 PM »
When I boot up my laptop, I get an error message that reads,

AccelerometerSt.exe - Application Error

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

I took it upon myself to perform a clean boot:

1.) Typed in msconfig in Startup menu search field and clicked on system configuration

2.) Click on the Services tab, checked the hide all Microsoft Services box and disabled all

3.) Disabled every startup item in task manager

4.) Restarted my laptop

When I performed these operations, upon boot up, it did not show me the error message.

5.) I enabled all Microsoft Services in Services tab in System Configuration

6.) I then enabled all start items in task manager except HP Accelerometer System Tray.

7.) I restarted my laptop.

When I performed these operations, I still did not get the error message.

My question is this...Do I need to enable HP Accelerometer System Tray and is it important?

Can I leave this app disabled or is it recommended that I have it active on my laptop?

Remove it from startup options. Do not use msconfig to make permanent changes to startup processes. Instead, you can use something like Autoruns (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396)
