Is changing the Default Installation Drive a bad practice?
    « on: March 02, 2021, 07:24:38 AM »
I did it via regedit with these instructions.
But now some of my apps' shortcuts in the Start up menu are no longer working. It's no big deal, I just removed them from the Start up menu, found their respective executable files, and put them in the taskbar instead. It's not ideal, but the new shortcut does call the executable successfully.
I hope I won't find any serious issues down the road.
Does anyone know if this is a known bad practice that will affect Windows 10 in an important way?

    Thanks in advance guys

It eventually will because the pointers in the reg are all listed to the original destination drive...
Just curious why did you need to do this ? ?

If you are speaking of newly installed apps you should have no issues...

As patio said, you won't have any problems other than having to change your current shortcuts. I'm guessing you installed a second, larger drive or created a larger partition? In any event, not a big deal - Windows doesn't care where your files are.
