Windows 10 freeze after hours of PC running
    « on: May 12, 2021, 11:31:09 AM »
    Hi!

    I have new installed Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64 currently Build 19042.985

When I go away from PC and Windows is only running withour interaction, only long copying or another tasks, it freezes and it is not possible to do anything.
No CtrlAltDel, even reset button on PC case works not and only one action is possible to do - turn off PC by button on PC case.

Problem is that it is in this new installation and before it happened never.
I did no changes in BIOS/UEFI or added hardware - nothing new and Windows freezes.

I know, it looks like hardware problem - but why it was not before this install?

I hope that anybody can tell me if is it hardware or software problem. And maybe what to check in case of HW problem or what is problem in Windows.
I know Windows advanced and cannot explain myself what it is.

Thank you for each help, reply or comment.

Definitely sounds like a hardware specific issue - what are the drive(s) involved in the copy operation?

Have you installed the drivers for chipset and Graphics card?

Copying is only for example, Windows freezes also in no action, only PC turned on.

I see that it looks like HW problem.

I have installed only Windows provided drivers, so I try to install all req'd chipset drivers, incl. gfx and will see.
If it helps not, I try to reconfigure BIOS/UEFI.

        I will update thread immediately.

Now I can maybe say that's solved.

I checked BIOS and loaded older config from older profile, then was computer running but freezed again.
So, I tried last possible solution - I disconnected and connected all devices from MB except RAM modules and harddisks.

Now i have computer running more than 24 hours mostly without any work and no freeze anymore and all devices are connected.

So, I think you're true that's HW problem.
I try else one thing - load newer profile to BIOS or try to config it even better. If it fails, it will be only confirmation about HW problem instead SW problem.

Perhaps run Speccy from here https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download

After you run it select file, publish report and copy the supplied url here for review. Then one of the helpers can review your computer configuration.
Also can you ether post a picture of the power supply label or the model of power supply and it's age.

            Really Miro

You are not doing any of the things we are asking you to do. Why post a problem if it is to keep telling us what you are doing.
There is a lot of hardware which is no longer supported after the 20h2 update, this is why I asked for the speccy report. You also could have a failing power supply no way to know without some details.

I know that I have unfinshed tasks.

But really I have report and there is lot of private data - like product key and network etc.
I need to discover whole report and it is not small file before posting.

Or please specify pages which are req'd and I will have less delay.

If you used file/publish report and copied the URL  all the personnel data is removed. The only "personnel data " is the name of the current user

              From the cccleaner site
Publishing a Speccy profile to the Web
To keep a record of your system profile at any given time, you can publish to the Web using Speccy. Speccy uses Piriform's servers to publish the profile without any identifying information. Each profile is given a unique URL.
The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

Note: Each time you start Speccy, it will generate a new randomized URL. This is useful if you want to track your computer's information over time.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
Note: The published profile will use the same language and temperature settings (Imperial or Metric) as your Speccy installation.

After reviewing the report I see
The Canon scanner is not supported under Windows 10.
You seem to have the 20h2 update for windows stuck not installing. This is not caused because there is a lack of disk space as you are running windows from the 320 GB Hitachi drive which has 200 GB free so not sure why.
The drivers are generic Windows drivers and I suspect there is at least 3 devices with no drivers. Please check device manager for exclamation marks.

You still haven't addressed the information regarding the power supply I asked for..

As first - I have installed 20H2 yet without MB drivers and I found in device Manager only 1 missing driver, I fixed it and all other are ok.
I have installed Windows on 320GB drive for own purposes and it is not important - I don't need to solve drive space, I need to solve Windows freeze.

i have not another info about PSU than I can get visually - PSU is old ~3-4 years - it is 500W PSU on 220V net with switcher.
Attached is photo (better to say visible part).

So, I can try two things:
                  1. install MB drivers
                  or
                  2. update Windows to 21H1 and then install MB drivers

and will see if anything changes.

Yes please if you can do the driver load and the windows updates.

Also can you check in the bios on the screen I have posted the power supply voltages.

Really interesant - how did you take BIOS screenshot?
I never knew it. i'm able to take screenshot when is any OS running logged in only.

It will be useful in many cases - if you did not screenshot from Asus Tweak utility.
