video card problems maybe
« on: August 20, 2004, 01:50:54 PM »
Just got a new computer today from cyberpower inc.  I was unable to reach their tech support at all so far today.  I tested 3 different monitors on the computer and none of them get any signal.  From reading on here I gathered that it is probably something wrong with the video card, even though its brand new.  Is there any way to determine what is wrong with the card or to fix it easily?

You can try to:

  • Replace the videocard
  • Insert it in another slot (If it is PCI)
  • See if it is inserted correctly
  • Test this videocard on another PC

However, since you recently obtained the computer I suggest you return it and have them install or give you a new one. You may damage your system and be forfeited warranty.

I got through to tech support.  He wanted me to take the video card out to listen for beeps.  I told him that I didn't know how, so he had me take the memory out instead to listen for beeps.  I did and there wasn't any beeping when I turned the pc on.  So it may be the motherboard.  Guess I have to send it back.
