Hi, please accept my apology if this is posted in the wrong place,its my first time :-[ I sent some music files from my external  to my husbands external drive, now i get drive unaccessable and its gone from a new volume to a local disk on the computer display, ive done checks and the report was no physical damage ,i cant do a chkdsk on it either to try and sort it. its a 300gb maxtor external harddrive,i dont want to format it again and lose all my stuff,any advice please?

    Which drive is unaccessible? Yours or your husband's?
    Try to connect the drive as a slave and see whether you can access it.
    If can, backup everything inside before you do anything further.
