Has any body knows a good free forum that can be downloaded like yabb.
Why not use yabb? because somesaid you cannot change the back ground colour, so yabb would not fit my website.
Is that true tat yabb cannot change colour.
I need a dark colour forum

What web server, database and scripting language do you have on your host server?

Incidentally, I've tried out a lot of different forum software over the last few years.  From an administrator's point of view, the best of the open source offerings was >Simple Machines Forum<.  I haven't seen it in use much in my travels, but it blows phpBB and YaBB out of the water, IMHO.  It's PHP- and MySQL-driven.

He's on my host. We suppost Perl, PHP, CGI, the works. Elixr, as I said in the PM on my forum, I will be installing this for you sometime today. The only question now is if you refer something like PHPBB, YABB, or SMF. Your choice.

Aha.

SMF is that kind of software that deserves to be better known.  It is in fact derived from YaBB; it's a code fork that arose from porting YaBB from Perl to PHP.  As far as I have been able to tell, it's a fair bit better than YaBB.

Oh, come on now!  You really believe the background colour can't be changed with a yabb forum?  Haven't you seen any yabb forums?  You need to go over to http://www.yabbforum.com/community/ and get the facts.  You say you need a dark background.  Is this dark enough: http://www.mafia-sh1t.p4h.biz/yabb/YaBB.pl?

Actually, I was just going to install the skin I have, assuming Elixr wants PHPBB lol  Once I hear back on which forum we want, I'll install it.

I think he really needs to spend some time getting familiar with the adminstrative panel.  That's where he can change the appearance of a forum.

Why not just put a link to the forum on your index page?  Visitors would login on the main forum page, not your home/index page.  That's the way it's usually done.
