« on: June 30, 2006, 07:50:13 PM »
Problem with my Canon S820 printer.  Just got new comp w/windows XP. When I attempt to print, the light flashes yellow 7 times then green once then 7 yellow, etc.  When I looked in the troubleshooting area of the manual, it said to contact the Canon Customer Service!!!  HELP!!!!!! :-?

Blinking lights could mean many things and each different device has it's own code so when it says to call Customer Service, it's not something usual... or it is but they don't want their Customer Service reps getting bored and paid for nothing.... with that said, let's see if we can figure it out. If not, you'll have to give those customer service reps something to do, lol.

1) When was the last time you used the printer and it worked? What OS were you using at the time?
2) If the answer to the first part of question 1 a time that is awhile ago, make sure there is ink and that if it has been sitting around for awhile, hasn't clogged.
3) Did you check for paper jams?
4) Are all cabled connected securly?
5) Are you using the correct driver and most current driver for Windows XP?

If you are not sure about the driver, go to the URL at the bottom of this post, it will take you to Cannon Support and a link to XP drivers.

Try all that and repost with status. If not solved, post answers to the 5 questions.

Seven flashes mean:
Defective printer head

Seven flashes: Defective printhead
Remove and reinstall the printhead.
Also, ensure that the protective cap has been removed. If reinstalling the printhead does
not resolve the problem, replace it with a new one.
