Visual Basics
« on: August 07, 2006, 06:21:37 PM »
I have this rather large (but not too large!) 514 page book on Visual Basics.
I would like to begin writing programs, but cannot since I don't have the floppy disk that came with the book that had Visual Basics...
Is there another way to program Visual Basics programs?

The only version of Vis.Basic available for purchase appears to be VB.NET for mega bucks.  You could try EBay or similar sites.

However if you would be happy with a slightly modified version then VB.2005 Express Edition is available FREE from MS here.

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.

Ok. I am downloading it, and still downloading it, and its still running, DSL seems slow today, lets see, only 308MB....

Thanks for the link! I hope to get deeper into programming!

Remember: it could just be that the upstream server is throttling your bandwidth.  Many software download servers do this.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

Well, you've got to understand this:
    VISUAL BASICS (TM)--
    GAME PROGRAMMING
    for WINDOWS

    ONE 5.25"
    DISK INCLUDED!

Published in 1992... all they had that was affordable was Floppies. The invention of a Micro-Floppy was probably still uncommon...

You best get a new book then, if you want to learn any up-to-date methods.

It doesn't work. I just see the code. I assume I'm supposed to get "Hello World" pop up somewhere along the line? And what's Earthworm Jim doing in there.

What do you mean EarthWormJim? That's the name of my computer in its registration...

I fixed the program, removed the link in the last post, and replaced it with a .ZIP file.
