Because I want to completly disable internet on this machine, only with IE because I will use firefox. I want to remove it because that way I am closing all IE vulnerabilities. ;)

I would like something that completely removes it.

If you remove it via Add/Remove Programs then it will no longer work.
Is this a trick question, is that you Raptor?

I thought you may have been Raptor trying to lure me into the Firefox girlieman debate. :D
If you remove IE it will be gone.
Firefox never used to work for Windows Updates, but that may not be the case now.
Perhaps some girlieman here will know.

No, he's not me. But he's got the right idea!  ;)

You can't really remove Internet Explorer, because then you wouldn't be able to download Service Packs anymore as those aren't sent out via automatic updates.

Although there may be guides on the Internet that will tell you exactly how to remove IE, I'd strongly advise against it because it is a part of Windows XP and some programs may no longer function. (Such as the EA Downloader for example)

Didn't Bill Gates argue in court that it could not be unbundled?

Actually there are ways to get rid of it:

To avoid confusion by anyone who might read this, look in Add or Remove Programs, and not see an option to remove IE, some clarification is needed here.  Once in Add or Remove Programs, you must then click on Add/Remove Windows Components; that's where you find the option to "remove" IE.

And, as previoulsy stated in this discussion, this removes all IE icons and shortcuts; it does not actually "uninstall IE".  This clearly seems to be confirmed by the fact that the panel showing the Windows Components that can be added or removed indicates 0.0MB as the change in disk space required or freed up it IE is added or removed.  If program files were actually being removed, then some amount of disk space would actually be freed up.  But, for all practical purposes, it has been removed, since no normal program icon to start it is visible.

These discussions about removing IE seem to popup now and then in forums and they often reflect some paranoia related to the issue.  I dub these conversations Much Ado About Nothing.   ;D
