How to install Outlook Express for Win2000

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 with win2000 and my outlook express will not function.   I need to reinstall Outlook Express 6 (this is on my computer and says it's not configured correctly).

More info needed.  Can you open Outlook Express?  At what point do you get the error message? Have you been using OE?  What happened before it stopped working?

I can open it but has an error message "incorrect configuration and reinstall is needed" prior to opening.  I have used it in the past and it was ok, so not sure what happened.

If Win 2000 works like Win XP, you can "remove" OE via Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.  With Win XP, the procedure is to open Add or Remove Programs, click on Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck the box for OE, click on Apply and OK.  

If Win 2000 works this way, try removing OE and adding it back.

I deleted existing program and reinstalled, still getting the same error message and can't even open now.

Perhaps you should download IE 6 SP1 >here< and reinstall it and OE.

One solution: format your hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Another solution: Get Thunderbird and use it for your email.

Or, try something like this: Repair Tool for Outlook Express v.1.6  

Or, use your Google button to search for solutions.  

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.
