    Ubuntu Live CD problems
    « on: November 01, 2006, 03:00:27 PM »
I tried to load it on my HP Desktop.  I loaded, well somewhat, looked like it got hung up.  Anyway I waited 2 hours just to use it from the CD.  Has anyone else had a problem like this? Or is this even a problem at all, and i'm just impatient.

Memory on the HP is 128mb, I think I read to use live CD I need 256mb, can that be confirmed?

    Thanks

Memory requirements vary on live Linux CDs.  Have you tried another distro?  Knoppix is a very good choice for a first live CD distro, due in no small part to its excellent hardware detection.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

No I haven't tried any other live CD.  I'm gonna look into a couple different things

Would you run Windows on 128 meg RAM, from a CD even?  :o

Try *censored* Small Linux or Slax and ALWAYS do a burn at a slow speed - 4x or so for best results.
