    Browsing Question
    « on: February 11, 2007, 02:03:47 PM »
Got a quick one...is browsing from a live CD any safer than from the system on the HD? From viruses & such? Yes I have all the anti this & that but was just curious.

In short, yes, probably.  Your live CD is a "disposable" operating system.  If you do not make use of the hard drives for storage of data, any changes a virus may make will be lost once the computer is turned off.  Plus, you're presumably using a Linux distro, and Linux is less virus-prone than Windows anyway.

Yep...Zenwalk Gnu. A friend told me it might be more compatible with my old machine, & so far so good. Looks like I got lots of new gadgets to learn. If I can get used to it then I may insall it o a separate HD. Thanks!
