Boot up
« on: March 08, 2007, 10:07:14 AM »
I recently removed and reinstalled Windows XP on the computer, now on Boot up, more than one version of XP appears and I am requested to select which one I require, after a while, the computer restarts automatically with the correct version. How do I remove the non used version..Thank you

Start --> Run --> type msconfig and press enter.
the go to the Boot.ini tab, and you can remove the unneeded OS.
Make sure you remove the right one though.
Hope this helps.

Well, you've eliminated the screen that shows two operating systems when you boot up, but I think I'd want to look further into it and determine whether I had two separate installations of Windows - which you seem to have - on my hard drive and, if so, maybe clean out the unneeded installation.

In other words, you simply edited boot.ini, right?  That's all you did?
