I voted " I ain't afraid"
Today, walking down the sidewalk, I had to walk under a ladder. At that moment a large black cat darted under the ladder in front of me. I don't why I just happened to look up. A paint can was plumeting from the second story balcony. In my haste to avoid being struck by the paint can, I failed to see the movers carrying a very large mirror into the apartment. I smashed into it and broke it into a thousand pieces. Lucky me. I avoided the paint can and got not even a scratch from the collision with the mirror. Can't say the same for the movers though. Both sustained life threatening cuts from the shattered glass. I proceeded on toward the intersection, as did the black cat, directly in front of me. I stopped at the curb to allow traffic to clear, but not the cat. SMASH! Alas! All nine lives expended in one fell swoop. I proceeded to cross the intersection when a speeding vehicle ran the stop sign and, SMASH! Now, lying here in the hospital with two broken legs, a fractured scull, and a multiplicity of internal injuries, I have time to reflect on these events. It wasn't Friday the 13th, the ladder just happened to be there. It wasn't walking under the ladder or the black cat, I avoided being struck by the paint can. But that damned mirror. I wonder what the next seven years will bring!
