Disconnected Wireless Internet...
« on: April 16, 2007, 07:17:13 PM »
I am having issues with my wireless internet. The wireless internet icon in the notification bar says I am not connected to the internet but I am. Actually I am writting this now and it says I am not connected. Also, every 3 - 10 minutes it disconnects and I have to repair the connection. It will still say not connected but it will work. Thanks!

XP Pro, 1gb ram, 1tb HD, 512DDR PCIe video, wireless - n  hardware.

Try upgrading the firmware on your router, I used to have a lot of problems with my linksys router as well. It was a WRT54G EU, though.

Contact Linksys technical support and explain them your problem. (+ make and version of router) they will most likely send you the latest firmware required.

I have the lastest firmware, I have also contacted Linksys. The did not have an answer for me.

I am not overloading the router, the router and wireless adapter are the same brand and speed. I have updated the drivers for the wireless adapter.

And your connection does not get interrupted while this error message occurs?

What kind of Internet Protection are you using?

Could it be another network device that is acting up? Firewire, for example.

    I have switched network adapters

I am using a hardware firewall (one I bought) I have disabled the router firewall.

if I am hardwired to the router it works GREAT so I know that the firewall is not the issue.

I dont get an message, it just starts to reconnect

Maybe it's DHCP that is set to renew far too often?

I just checked it. It is not set to renew for a 24 hour period.  Anymore ideas?

When it says you disconnect, do you loose the Internet connection or does it keep functioning? If the latter is true, it could be a software/Windows problem.
