Would be impossible for me to say what % of members found it funny/offensive. It was reported, I deemed that it was a legit complaint and modified the post and removed the comment, which was later removed by the poster.

It did show how immature and overly sensitive some people are.

I sometimes feel offended by spelling errors. Can I report these?

I don't recall seeing spelling / grammar being part of the forum rules.  ;)

Heh Honvetops. There are plenty of members that disobey many of these rules. I honestly find most of the stuff funny myself, but when reported I need to follow the rules to keep the peace among all the users and make the forums as safe as possible for home, work, and school viewing. ;)

I'm going to step up to the plate, now, Nathan...

I'm the one who reported the post.

While some of the posts here are funny, I don't see the need to make *censored* or derogatory comments...to veterans or new users of the forum.

This is a free computer help forum...not a free-for-all forum.  The forum rules are clear and concise and 2k_dummy stepped out of bounds.

I also read posts where others trash other users for their inability to spell, or their lack of computer knowledge...all of which is totally unnecessary.

It may have been funny, but inappropriate.

I'm hoping the post wasn't edited because it offended me...it should have been edited because it was the right thing to do.

Saviour, there is no problem in reporting a post.

If the moderators could come back to the kitchen, I think it might be a good idea to quickly put together a post about when and when not to report posts.

The comment could have been taken more than one way. The Off Topic forum is just that, Off Topic. It has nothing to do with helping anyone. Which rule would my comment fit precisely? None! It is all in the mind of the reader. You chose to pass judgement based on what was in your own mind. A little reminder:

Judge not, that ye be not judged, for ye know not when the Son of man cometh.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

          So far the only trashing that gets done doesn't apply to the above people, but to a subgroup of those;

          1. People who can spell, but are too lazy to or do not have an attention span big enough that allows them to create coherent sentences.
          2. Lack of computer knowledge? More like their lack of 'seeing the big picture' and omitting data that takes forever to get. Or writing it all in caps-lock. Not all users get the same treatment, some are genuinely incapable of knowing what they're doing and others are making it hard for everyone by not paying attention.

We can't be saints all the time, but people sure can help us to remain patient by being coherent and paying attention!

As far as reporting things go; you do realize that everyone else would get burned for linking to and recruiting for a profit-organization such as yours, Saviour?
