Go to Start / Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it.

Let it run to completion and re-boot.

Any change ? ?

alright, I tried what you said. It didn't ask for the CD though and there's no result... My reboots do seem to get slower though :(

like I said there was no result. Unforunately, that includes scessing the Windows Firewall :(
