should anatomical terminologies be allowed in forums?
« on: May 16, 2007, 03:50:55 AM »
I believe that it's a bodypart and therefore should be considered appropriate in all aspects of life, eg. "i'm going to touch you with my hand" or ï have genitals on my head".

if used appropriately that is.

You can't display what has been deleted. There are to many children and people who are immature or overly sensitive to permit it. Some take offense at even vague references that are made in a joking manner. It is best to give up on the idea as no amount of arguing will convince otherwise.

I cannot come up with (in my mind) any way someone need to use this type of terminology on the forums apart from maybe a post in the off topic section.

I can say that all I want, because I am ignorant of what it means!  ;D

Peculiaroso is a 1994 album by guitarist Leo Kottke.

Coming more than two years after the Great Big Boy album, where all tracks included vocal parts, Peculiaroso returned to Kottke's usual mix of vocal and instrumental selections. The album included several notable cover versions, including an instrumental take on the Sutherland Brothers' "Arms of Mary" and a version of Randall Hylton's "Room at the Top of the Stairs" which received some airplay on Adult Alternative radio.

The album was produced by singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones, who also provided backing vocals on several tracks. Kottke credited Jones with capturing a more spontaneous and relaxed feel on the recording than was typical of his own attempts.

I say that, if used properly, terminology related to the genital area shouldn't be disallowed. I'm not saying that they should be used willy-nilly, but if, for some reason, one has to make a reference to the *censored*, they should be allowed to.

So long as we can be more mature than "OMG h3 s41d "p3n1s!!!111oneoneone", anyway. ;)

I, for one, would like to know why an individual would "have to make reference to the *censored*" on a computer help forum.  If we start getting topics like "Help, I got my *censored* caught in the A drive!" then I think we have issues bigger than censorship here.
