We have windows me os

Comp comes on shows windows me window then goes black with message windows cannot upgrade %1 to%2 over and over again!

Can anyone help or explain message as cannot get comp to do anything else!

   Have you recently done a windows update? Posibbly there was an error with the install process if so.  If not, Maybe a virus is always a great possibility.  
    I would First try loading into safe mode, usually you can get to this by pressing F8 a couple of times after the initial beep during the start up process.  
    If that doesnt work try booting with a floppy boot disk.  You can make one with a download from either http://bootdisk.com/ or http://www.startdisk.com/Web1/ubd/ubd.htm.  
    Or you could try a recovery disk either from anti-virus software or using Win ME CD.  Good luck

thanks, have downloaded the boot disk to floppy, allready tried the me cd but did,nt help, microsoft help is good, but cant even get as far as start to continue any further!!
