    bring in some traffic!
    « on: July 12, 2007, 03:05:30 PM »
I've designed nifty little website for a local club.  thing is I cant seem to increase the volume of users... how does a guy go about bringing in some traffic?
It may prove difficult, being that the site has a completely local focus, and no one is responding to the insanely liberal free drink passes the site already offers.
    any input would be appreciated.

Advertise, advertise, advertise! If it's a local focus, put up posters around town and make sure everybody know about it. If it's more than local, make sure you're submitting your site to all the major search engines. Maybe try Google ads.

meta tags are used by search engines to show descriptions and keywords. try viewing the source code of this page and they should be at the top

I highly recommend you go through each of the steps found on the below link. Computer Hope has not spent any money on advertising and has been able to get a lot of traffic to its site. This page consists of all the things I've learned over the last 10 years.

Just about to mention that myself.
I can testify to the success of this, using just that page I got a lot more traffic to my clan site within a few days.

Posters, as already suggested, are a great idea, also how about an ad on the local radio station?  Many stations offer a quick shout out for free, which may help. Flyers pushed through letter boxes?  Could be worth a shot.

Finally, consider a link exchange with other local sites.

          Good luck!
