modem, blah
« on: August 01, 2007, 07:23:48 PM »
I was trying to install a router today.  A long story made short...

Before I hooked my cable modem to my router, I didn't need a usb cable connected from the modem to my computer in order to get online.  Now I do.

At the same time, neither the router nor the other computer I was trying to route (?) to requires the usb connection in order to get online, just the network cable.

For a specific reason I don't want to require the USB connection.  I want it back the way it was, but I can't understand what's going on.  The modem has a usb connector on the back, but didn't originally come with a usb cable and one wasn't necessary, until now.

It's a webSTAR 2100, if that helps.   ???  Help me?

You should be hooked up like this.....

modem.....router......computer.

All using Ethernet cables. If you can't get on the web like this it is because your router is not setup.

You can get some troubleshooting info here.....
