Windows 2000 pop-up suggest 'Critical Error' and that I need to go to Registercl

Hello, name is Forest.  Have just upgraded from Windows '98 to 2000.  Am getting a pop-up which warns me of iminent failure, and Register Damaged or Corrupted.  It tells me to go to www.registercleanerxp.com or something32.  Any ideas how I can eliminate this bothersome thing?
