      But I want a green one . . .
1Tb on a single optical disk sounds good, but personally I'll stick with my hard drives for now.

You can get 1TB hdd for a much cheaper price but then it is a bit larger.
I thought BD (Blueray Disk) was a high storage (60GB) for an optical drive.
        I guess I was wrong.

Would be pretty amazing to fill that with MP3 songs.  ;)

Good for backing stuff up, otherwise I think it's a waste of money.
What are you going to put on a 1TB disk? Are you actually going to put all your music on it and play the music from there  ???

I'd be weary of putting ALL my important files on one disk.

I'd probably lose the disk, or something similarly stupid. And knowing my luck, thats when I'd have a serious problem with the computer, heh.

Good idea, but I think storage capacity that high should be left for HDD's to take care of.

P.S. I bet in a few years that statement will sound crazy, there will probably be 1TB USB pens by that time, haha.

Lol, What would you put on a USB Memory Stick with 1TB of storage?

100GB would be enough for me. :P

The 1990s called, they want their ell-oh-ell back. People in the 1980s famously said "What would you do with more than 640K or RAM?"

If I had a 1 TB memory stick I'd put lots of movies, TV series, and music albums on it. My DVD player has a USB socket and plays mpeg4 and mp3. Also a complete OS backup. That's just for starters. I'm sure I could think of lots more things.

I am willing to bet my life on the fact that you have upgraded or bought extra storage space within the last 5 2 years because you "need" more space?

Almost all applications, video/movie formats etc require more space on your hard drive so with advancing technology requires advancing storage medium to keep it... I remember when I bought my first 40GB hard drive thinking "I wont need any more space than this..."

Who knows what the standard computer will have for specs in the next 5-10 years.

But my main point is... If a 1TB USB stick was available... I'd really want one, heh. :P

My first PC was a PC-XT with 640K of RAM and a 32 MB hard drive. Last month I bought an external 320 GB hard drive. That is ten thousand times bigger. Face it, storage gets bigger and cheaper.

Wow that would be enough music for constant listening for maybe a decade.  I don't think i like that many songs.

You could use .flac or some other lossless format, that would bring it down to maybe 2 years listening...

          and your point is?

You can't read English too well, can you?

My point was in answer to someone who said "I can't imagine what a 1 TB pen drive could be used for". I was pointing out that since my first PC storage sizes had gone up 10,000 times.

          Got it now?

          I got that  :)

I would imagine a 1TB disk or HD would be less reliable than a 200GB one...

I still don't see the reason why we need 1000GB CD's.

Well, I've got a 320 GB hard drive and a 160 GB one. That's roughly half a terabyte. I only need to double my storage and I will have a terabyte of storage. To back it all up onto one disk would be so handy. Add a few dozen HD movies and stuff, I'll start needing a second disk!

Storage always expands to more than people think they will ever need. Always. It has been that way since the 1960s.
