OpenOffice Database export to Excel?

Is it possible to export a OpenOffice "Base" (Database, equivalent to Microsoft Access) to the Excel format? I have tried and tried, but continue to fail to find a way.

Windows Vista
NO MS Office on this computer... I do have access to computers that do have it.

What exactly have you tried to do? Does it have to be in excel? If you have OpenOffice could you not send it to calc?

Can Base save as an Access file, then import to Excel?

Or export to Calc, then save as an Excel file?

I need to use Excel so I can get things exported as HTML in table format, which Access does not do.

The main compatibility problem between Calc and Excel spreadsheets are functions. Basic functions, such as SUM, AVERAGE, and MAX generally cause no problems. However,with more advanced functions, check the online help before using them. Although Calc is designed to be highly compatible with Excel, both spreadsheets have functions that the other lacks. In a few cases, Calc may have arguments that Excel lacks. In other cases, Calc may have two similar functions: one for general use, and a second for Excel compatibility. For example, WEEKNUM calculates the week number of a given data based on the ISO 6801 standard, while WEEKNUM_ADD does the same calculation in an Excel-compatible format.

As in Writer, objects in Calc have a mixed record. Charts in particular may not survive translation. Page and cell styles don't survive, although the formatting of cells that use the styles generally translates faithfully.

Thats for the Calc program, which is completely different.
Base is like Microsoft Access.
I need to convert Base to Excel

What I think I am going to do is export the Base program for Microsoft Access, and then  load it on a computer that has Microsoft Access on it, and use Microsoft Access to export

Please let us know how that works?  I'm curious and I'm sure others are, too.

I have OpenOffice installed on a U3 flash drive and was going to try creating a database just to do some testing for your question.  But, the Base database part of OpenOffice doesn't work on the flash drive; I get a message about needing a Java plug-in and I think I cannot install that plug-in on a portable version of OpenOffice.

This is horrifying!

I dont trust OpenOffice anymore. I was under the understanding that at least I would be able to save all of the OpenOffice formats in MS Access..

Issue resolved!

Open a new spreadsheet.
Call the datasource window (F4)
Browse your database and drag a table onto a cell.
If you don't see your database among the datasources: Right-click in the datasouce window and call the dialog to register databases (make a Base file's tables and queries accessible in other components).
When you have imported your data in a spreadsheet, save in any format you like. Access can import text tables (*.csv) and *.xls.

Yes, the advice provided from the member of the OOo community solved the issue. The provided method allows you to transfer all your Base data to Calc, which can then be exported to Microsoft Office
